EMS - Enterprise House

Updated: Nov 9, 2020

The Brief

Poole based engineering company EMS specialise in the design and manufacturing of bespoke, electro- mechanical drive systems. They had recently moved their UK headquarters to Holton Heath, requiring EI Projects to provide a full strip out and refurbishment of the office areas and manufacturing facilities. We were appointed as Principle Contractor to provide a full fit- out package to allow EMS to continue to grow and develop their business in a stream lined and functional environment that will provide a corporate appeal to their prestigious clientele. EI Projects worked in conjunction with the client to enhance and develop the initial design brief to create fresh, energy efficient work spaces.

Project Proposal

The project proposal consisted of fully comprehending the client’s requirements and aspirations to ensure their design concept was achievable. The demolition and fit out works were bespoke to two separate areas; the manufacturing facility and office areas to provide a harmonious link between the two.

The building was previously utilised as an exhibition manufacturing facility therefore the old, compartmentalised factory spaces needed complete demolition before any fit -out works could take place. The demolition consisted of the removal of 6m high partitions, redundant mezzanine floor, electrical and mechanical. This provided a ‘clear run’ to complete the decorations of the perimeter walls, supporting steel work and a resin based, industrial grade floor coating. Single skin steel partitions were specified for the segregation of areas including stores, gear cutting. Upgraded double skin steel partitions were also specified for the acoustically sensitive areas such as the quite testing room and inspection area. A mezzanine floor and pallet racking were installed within the stores area giving the client versatility and optimum storage solutions. The factory WC’s, kitchens and break out area were installed to provide employees with welfare facilities that are on trend with the latest, high standards of hygiene and comfort.

All new, full height glass partitions & doors on the first floor created an open and ergonomic work area for the design staff. Hot desks to the open plan office spaces, provides creative minds the opportunity to communicate quickly in an environment perfect for teams that work closely on a daily basis.

We managed this project from concept to completion on time and on budget despite the challenges faced from the COVID-19 Pandemic. EI Projects observed and followed all guidelines advised by the government including social distancing and hygiene concerns. The project was managed conscientiously, ensuring the health & safety of all personnel including all stakeholders and visitors was not compromised.
